Switchboard is an LGBTQ+ helpline for anyone to discuss anything, including sexuality, gender identity, sexual health and emotional wellbeing: 0300 330 0630

You can contact Switchboard via phone, email, or instant chat.

The helpline is open from 10am to 10pm everyday: 0300 330 0630

Your call will be answered by a member of the LGBT+ community; Switchboard have around 160 trained telephone volunteers who all identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans.

You do not have to identify as LGBT+ to call Switchboard. You might want to call to talk about your sexuality, or you might want advice or support if you have a friend or family member who identifies as LGBT+.

The Switchboard website says "for over 40 years people have been talking to us about:

  • Coming out
  • Relationship issues
  • Family problems
  • Issues at work or college
  • Safer sex and sexual health
  • Having sex for the first time
  • Looking for LGBT+ venues
  • LGBT+ social and support groups"

Please note that Good Thinking cannot be held responsible for the security of the information that you share outside of this website.

  • The service is run for and by members of the LGBT+ community
  • The service is completely confidential and the service cannot access your phone number
  • The volunteers are specially trained to take your calls

  • Phone calls are not free (but you can use your phone tariff minutes)
  • Instant chat isn't always available
  • The helpline is not 24/7

We would like to ask if you would tell us, anonymously, in which London Borough you live, work or study.

This information will help us develop more personalised support for Londoners, and improve our service to all users. Please see our terms and conditions for more information.
